Shade Of Blue - Czech Republic  -  (band is inactive)
A relatively new, but already well accomplished and very well known. They play bluegrass music, contemporary Country and some rock stuff too. Shade of Blue was founded in November 1998 by singer and songwriter Pavel Handlik. The band has performed at many various venues. For example Prague Porta 99 and Tramp Porta 1999, Pezinok Bluegrass Festival in Slovakia and Zahornice Bluegrass Festival near Kopidlno (Banjo Jamboree).The band occasionally plays at the Rozatov Country Pub in Mlada Boleslav and at the Bluegrass Liga in Prague. They have just finished their first CD which they will bring to the EWOB.

Dusan Dobias, better know a "Songy", is a music teacher and started to play guitar in 1975. He organised a bluegrass band, called The Bluegrass Trend,  which performed between 1979 and 1989. They played the songs of Reno & Smiley, Bill Monroe, Flatt & Scruggs and The Stanley Brothers. Since then Dusan has been performing as a solo act, playing flat picked and finger picked guitar and doing American folk music, ragtime, blues, bluegrass and country. He has won a number of awards like Musician of the Year in 1992, Singer and Gitarist of the Year in 1998 and Artist of the Slovak Bluegrass Hall in 1999! He has recorded 3 CD's and a cassette course / guitar school for bluegrass and country guitar.
