Procedures and Bye-Laws


  • The European World Of Bluegrass Association is a non-profit democratic association, open to all bluegrass musicians, fans, promoters, organisers and others with an interest in the well being and furthering of Bluegrass music in Europe.

  • The European World Of Bluegrass Association will accept members on the basis of the above mentioned democratic principle. Membership is free and all members have voting rights.

  • The European World Of Bluegrass Association activities will be co-ordinated by a team of co-ordinators, representing the national Bluegrass music associations and/or of a majority of the national Bluegrass scene in their home country.

  • The team of co-ordinators of the European World Of Bluegrass Association will be elected each year by the members of the European World Of Bluegrass Association, during the  European World Of Bluegrass festival.

  • Current co-ordinators to the European World Of Bluegrass Association may be re-elected by the members of the European World Of Bluegrass Association during each annual EWOB festival.

  • The team of co-ordinators of the European World Of Bluegrass Association will consist of  a minimum of 5 and a maximum of  7 representatives from at least 5 national European Bluegrass associations. A representative from a country in which no national Bluegrass Music Association is established, should be very much familiar with the national Bluegrass Music scene in his or her country and should be actively involved in it.

  • Decisions concerning the activities of the European World Of Bluegrass Association can only be made based upon an agreement between all the co-ordinators, after consulting the national representatives of the national European Bluegrass associations and/or of a majority of the national bluegrass scene in their home country.

  • Detailed accounts will be kept of all EWOB expenditure and income. A budget will be implemented and open to scrutiny. An annual financial report will be made available for scrutiny by all members at the EWOB event. Any surplus income will be devoted to further projects for the promotion of the association's goals. Any proposed  projects will be approved by the members at the EWOB meeting. No funds are permitted to be retained as profit by any party to EWOB. Funds can only be retained as part of projected spending in the EWOB budget.

  • Co-ordinators and candidates for co-ordinator to the European World Of Bluegrass Association are required to declare any personal commercial interests that are associated with EWOB activity and are not permitted to derive any commercial advantage, benefit or involvement from serving as co-ordinators. They must adhere to the goals, procedures and bye-laws of the European World Of Bluegrass Association.

  • The national representatives to the EWOB Association will communicate with each other at a regular basis, but at least annually, and inform each other about the developments on their national level. A good habit would be to exchange copies of the national bluegrass magazine or newsletter.
