Blackjack plays bluegrass music on the edge between traditional and contemporary style, especially the way J.D. Crowe & The New South played it. In the repertoir there are songs by interprets like J.D. Crowe, Del McCoury, Bluegrass Reunion and others.
The band played on several festivals in Czech Republic (like the famous Banjo Jamboree in Kopidlno), in Prague in the country club "Ci-5". In June 2000 and 2001 Blackjack participated in EWOB festival in Voorthuizen and it was the biggest abroad festival, where the band had played. On the CD "EWOB 2000" released at this festival the band has an instrumental tune „Amanda Jewell".

Bont & Bluegrass (NL) Photo
B&B has been continiously active since 1976. Although their initial interest was traditional bluegrass, they soon set out on a track they have followed ever since: from early days on they have focused on combining contemporary themes and rhythms with traditional bluegrass instrumentation. They mix different styles and influences to create a unique and distinctive sound, with a touch of the blues or a whiff of jazz. One song may be close to 'acoustic unplugged popmusic', the next one might have the energetic bluegrass drive. On their setlist are songs from various bands and singer-songwriters, like for instance Joe Jackson, Little Feat, Tom Waits, Richard Thompson, Bruce Hornsby and songs and tunes from their own hand. So...no beaten tracks! Let them surprise you!
