Downhill was formed with the intention to be the most hard-driving Bluegrass band in Sweden.
The members have all played in different bluegrass bands before, and after sharing the same musical idea's and sources for inspiration they started to play together as a band in the autumn of -97.
Downhill is a group that tries to play and pay respect for the traditional sound, though they do original material they never fail in keeping it in a "mountain style" context. There is no search for a new unique sound or style here, it has already been found.
Hasse Wahlstedt is the lead singer and guitar player. One of the best you can find east of North Carolina. He sings with that gut feeling and he never misses a G-run.
Kenneth Kjellgren is probably one of the most hard-kicking and finest banjo pickers in Europe. Known for his timing and clarity in tone.
Jimmy Sunnebrandt on fiddle and vocals is the youngest member in the band and also the most talent one, his work on the fiddle in both backup and solo playing is awesome and is yet to be seen.
Janne Ekman on Dobro plays with an outstanding simplicity and smoothness, his tasteful playing and those blue notes gives the band that special sound.
Leif Sunnebrant is a rock solid bass player and has a love and knowledge for the music that is hard to find anywhere else
Jonas Kjellgren on mandolin and vocals put the band on the right beat with his steady rhythmic chops and as a singer and songwriter he gives the band a possibility to present new and interesting material.
