Early Grass Revival - Czech Republic
This group came into existence in 1992. In the beginning the repertoire consisted of standards with heavy emphasis on the songs by Flatt & Scruggs. Later, after several personnel changes more attention was payed to original songwriting. Groupleader Ivo Drbohlav writes many a song in the old traditional "early grass" style and many of his songs have also been recorded by other bands like the Petr Brandejs Band, Relief, Spruce Pine and recently Bluegrass Comeback.
Ivo started as a banjo player some 25 years ago and later switched to his guitar. Many of the Czech bluegrass musicians have been a member of his group. Ivo plays a major role in the Czech Bluegrass Association BA.
In 1999 Early Grass Revival recorded their album "Picking The Old Style", they can also be heard on "Bluegrass Advent 1999" (Medak Records) and "EWOB 2000" (SCR). Current line-up was finnished in summer 2000. The band presented their brand new cd in October 2001. For contents and soundclips be sure to check their website.
