In May 1998, the NBMA (Netherlands Bluegrass Music Association) organised the first EWOB - European World of Bluegrass festival & Tradeshow.
Then in February 2001, building on Dick Kimmel´s idea for a European Bluegrass Network, the European World Of Bluegrass Association was born.
Its founders are the representatives of the Bluegrass musicians from 22 European countries: Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, England, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, The Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia, Scotland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
The goal of the EWOB association - a non-profit organization - is to unite and promote European Bluegrass in close co-operation with the national Bluegrass Music Associations in Europe - facilitating their important tasks - and with other international Bluegrass Music Associations like the IBMA and the SPBGMA. At this moment the bluegrass music communities of 22 European countries are represented and cooperating within the EWOB Association.
